The unemployment rate in Uzbekistan in 2019 made up 9%, which is 0.3% lower than in 2018. This was published by the Republican Scientific Center for Employment and Labor Protection following the results of the survey conducted in 108 cities and districts, which covered 4900 households and 26 thousand citizens.
The workforce made up just over 19 million people, or 0.9% more than in 2018. The number of people employed in economic sectors comprised 13.54 million, in the official sector of the economy - 5.7 million people.
The number of unemployed made up 1.33 million. The unemployment rate among youth comprised 15% for men, and 12.8% for women.
The number of people employed in the informal economy, which excludes migrant workers, made up 5.37 million. As a result of measures to legalize jobs, the number of temporary and seasonal workers went down by 19.6 thousand.
