The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan has signed an order on the introduction of the "open sky" mode at regional airports in Uzbekistan.
The "open sky" mode will be introduced from August 1, 2020 for a period of two years until the end of the IATA Winter 2022/2023 season.
In accordance with the order, the "open sky" mode will be introduced:
- at Karshi, Nukus, Termez, Bukhara, Navoi and Urgench airports without any restrictions;
- at the airports of Andijan, Ferghana, Namangan and Samarkand, granting all foreign airlines of the member states of the International civil aviation organization the rights to perform passenger flights to these airports without frequency restrictions, taking into account the technical capabilities of airports, including the 5th freedom of air, on routes that are not operated by designated carriers of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- at the airport of Samarkand upon completion of reconstruction works.
In accordance with the order, foreign airlines are granted the right to perform cargo flights up to the 7th freedom of air at the airports of Navoi and Termez.
Foreign airlines interested in opening new routes or planning to increase the number of flights must submit the necessary documents to the Aviation Agency under the Ministry of transport and the Air Transport Development Department in accordance with the established procedure.
